We are delighted to share that Jane Bennett, Andrew Mellon Professor of the Humanities, has been awarded the 2025 Benjamin E. Lippincott Award by the American Political Science Association for her groundbreaking book Vibrant Matter: A Political Ecology of Things (2010).
The Lippincott Award honors works of exceptional quality by living political theorists that remain influential at least 15 years after publication. The prize committee praised Vibrant Matter as “one of the most influential works of political theory in the 21st century,” a book that has reshaped conversations across more than fifty disciplines and subfields, from political theory and philosophy to ecology, sociology, and critical race studies.
